OUR COMMITMENT

At Leros Point to Point, our mission is to drive the people who drive business. Realizing that we have an obligation to ourselves, our clients, and our community to operate in a way that minimizes our impact on the environment, we have committed to “going green”. Pursuing this goal, we have adopted the following guidelines:

  • We will seek to be a green leader in the car service industry, but will never sacrifice the quality of our services in the process.
  • We will pursue a two-pronged strategy: implementing "quick wins" such as eco-friendly driving habits, while exploring and building a eco-friendly fleet of vehicles over the longer term.
  • Rather than commit to a specific technology or approach, we will test a variety of fleet options—such as hybrid, clean diesel, flex-fuel, and natural gas vehicles.
  • We are committed to industry collaboration and partnership. We will publicly engage our peers and share data and best practices in an effort to move the entire car service industry forward.
GREENING OUR FLEET
In 2008, we calculated our carbon footprint to find out where our environmental impacts are greatest. Not surprisingly, we discovered that 93% of our carbon emissions can be traced back to our fleet of vehicles and the chauffeured services we provide every day. Only 7 % of our footprint was attributed to our office operations.

Accordingly, we've made the greening of our fleet the cornerstone of our eco-strategy. While low-carbon luxury cars are still in their infancy, we believe that within five years there will be an opportunity to replace all of our traditional vehicles with "green" options. In the meantime, we're experimenting with a number of alternatives:

  • In 2007, we added a Lexus hybrid SUV to our fleet. With an estimated 25 miles per gallon, it's a sophisticated way to arrive in style and still feel good about the environment. Hybrids also have the advantage of a smoother and quieter ride—perfect for when you need to conduct business in transit.
  • In 2008, we converted a new Lincoln town car to operate on compressed natural gas (CNG). CNG vehicles produce 60-90% fewer smog pollutants and 30-40% fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
  • In late 2008, we will also be adding five new "clean diesel" Mercedes vehicles to our fleet. In addition to looking sharp, these luxury diesel vehicles get some of the best fuel economy of today's available "green" options.

Despite these important steps, the majority of our fleet is still traditional luxury vehicles. To minimize their impact, we are piloting a new technology that promises to reduce our fleet emissions up to 34% and reduce emissions of air pollution up to 57%--not to mention lowering our gas bills. We will report on the results of this pilot program in January 2009.

GREENING OUR DRIVING

We continue to use eco-friendly driving and maintenance techniques to keep our vehicles running smoothly and getting the best fuel economy possible. All new drivers undergo formal eco-training during orientation, and beginning in 2009 all drivers will get an annual refresher course on eco-friendly driving.

GREENING OUR OFFICE
We've taken steps to green our office too – implementing energy conservation measures, using compostable kitchenware, and starting an e-waste recycling program. We're also exploring ways to raise awareness among our employees on how to be more environmentally conscious at work and in their personal lives.
